New Albany - Plain Local School District
The New Albany - Plain Local (NA-PL) school district is considered one of the best in Ohio, having earned the highest rating of "Excellent with Distinction" for seven consecutive years. In 2004, the New Albany-Plain Local School District became the only school district in Ohio to be named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the US Department of Education for all levels of K - 12 education. The district, consisting of four schools (2 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school), serves approximately 3760 students, with a student: teacher ratio of 16:1. 100% of NA-PL seniors graduate from high school, and 95% continue on to higher education. The district engages in a number of innovative programs as well. One of the most notable is their highly effective recycling and environmental education program, which has been implemented in nearly every classroom and office throughout the district. As a result, the district earned a a Magna Award from The American School Board Journal, which ranked this program among the top ten percent in the nation.
